Buying Property in Egypt

Egypt is on the northeast corner of Africa with a Mediterranean coastline, with Libya to the west, the Sudan in the south, and on the east by the Red Sea and Israel. EGYPT can provide real estate opportunities for both investment property and holiday homes, being located on the Mediterranean. Egypt has been a united state for more than 5,000 years, and archaeological evidence indicates that a developed Egyptian society has existed for much longer. Egyptians take pride in their "pharaonic heritage" and in their descent from what they consider mankind's earliest civilization.

Egypt is divided into two regions by the landscape's dominant feature, which is the legendary Nile River. The Nile starts 100 mi (161 km) south of the Mediterranean and fans out to a sea front of 155 mi between the cities of Alexandria and Port Said. Egypt has the largest population of any Arab country and nearly all of the country's 79 million people live in Cairo and Alexandria; as well as elsewhere on the banks of the Nile.

With the installation of the 2004 Egyptian parliament, the Government of Egypt pursued new reforms, following an economic reform program begun in 1991 providing stability and growth notably in the real estate market which is always quick to respond. This was quickly acted on by the Egyptians who ensured that a complete real estate market was available providing the full range of property for sale, off-plan property, investment property, holiday homes and property for rent.

Although terrorism has been a problem world-wide for some years now, the Egyptian government has been quick to react to extremism and has come down hard on extremist elements: obviously, there is a recognition that the country’s prosperity rests on tourism to a large extent as well as generous aid from the US. The government has been active in making Egypt one of the most stable countries in the region.

Cairo, the capital, has been a crossroads of Arab commerce and culture for millennia, and its intellectual and Islamic institutions are at the centre of the region's social and cultural development.. The initiative started by President Sadat to bring peace and stability to the region has been continued by President Mubarak and this has made Egypt an attractive proposition for property investors from around the world. EGYPT is well serviced by international airlines and has an excellent communications infrastructure.

A history that stretches back more than five thousand years housing one of the oldest and most sophisticated cultures in the world makes Egypt a must-see for most travellers. Europe is easily within reach from its Mediterranean coast.
Egypt has a hot dry climate with very little rain and average humidity. Temperatures range from the thirties up to the mid forties through much of the country.
